The seed of Nigella sativa (N. sativa) or Black Cumin Seed has been used in different civilizations around the world for centuries to treat various animal and human ailments. The historical references to these seeds are also found in some of the oldest religious and medical texts. For example, it is referred to as ‘Melanthion’ by Hippocrates and Dioscorides, while the Bible describes it as the ‘curative black cumin’ (Isaiah 28:25, 27 NKJV). The Black Seed Oil comes from the nigella sativa plant, which has small, black. crescent-shaped seeds and it technically a part of the buttercup family. The oil was even found in the Egyptian Pharoah Tutankhamun's tomb dating back some 3,300 years ago.
